The Tolima coffee region, located in central-western Colombia, is one of the most important in the country, ranking third in coffee production. This region borders other renowned coffee-growing regions such as Caldas, Cundinamarca, Cauca and Huila, and is home to a population of 1.3 million people.
Tolima has 38 coffee-growing districts, including Planadas, Ibagué and Chaparral, which are home to more than 60,000 families dedicated to coffee farming. The region has some 106,742 hectares of coffee plantations, and the most common varietals include Castillo, Cenicafé 1, Colombia and Tabí.
